Touch Football is a game that can be played by all age groups, The RULES of the game are almost the same
as that of 3 Down Canadian Football, The Winnipeg Touch Football League plays by those rules, The WTFL has been in existence since 1991, formally it was known from 1974 - 1991 as the Centennial Touch Football League.
The WTFL is organized and run by a volunteer board of interested league members.
Meetings are held once a month with the exception of December and January. The WTFL has been a leader in Non-contact Football, having conducted
clinics, promoted leagues, individuals, and officials training sessions throughout the Praires. The league
features 4 divisions and averages 30 teams per year.
The corner stone of The Winnipeg Touch Football League has to be the Winnipeg Assassins. The Assassins are Two time Touch Bowl Champions who also have
represented Manitoba for the last 20 years at tournaments throughout North America. The game of Touch Football can involve many different skill levels from former Star Pro players like
James Murphy & Willard Reeves to players who have never taken up the sport of Football before. The WTFL is set up with 4 different divisions of play, starting
at the Elite Division which features former pro and college players, This is the divison that the Winnipeg Assassins, Tournament of Champion(Toronto) competitors "The Eagles" play in.
The 2nd division which has former College and University players which has teams like the Banditos and Rebels,
To the 3rd and 4th divisions which have less of a individual sports resume but are just as competitive and team oriented as the upper echelon divisions.
The WTFL Playing Fields include Optimist Park, Shamrock School
and Tec Voc Highschool. Each Team is guaranteed 18 games throughout the Regular season and one round of playoffs guaranteed. Team Entry Fee's are $950.00 per team |
